Multicultural realtors are likely to be members of an ethnic community
but not necessarily. One of the things many of them emphasize is
that while they may work this niche market, they don't limit themselves
to it.
Ray Singhal, Coldwell Banker Burnet, is an example. He was born
in India, speaks Hindi and has lived in the U.S. since 1962. He
found that to build trust in his own community, he first had to
build credibility in the larger market. As a result, his business
is equally split between the two.
Family dynamics vary from culture to culture, and determing the
ultimate decision maker requires tact, diplomacy and subtlety, says
Ray Singhal. "You have to be patient because the turn around
time is longer than the typical American family. You have to understand
them, their needs and their family dynamics. You can't impose your
solutions on them too strongly because they want to make a decision
with their own family members".
Ray Singhal attended British schools in India, lived in Canada,
and immigrated to the U.S. in 1962. He has a Ph.D. in Pharmacology,
taught in medical schools and had a background in multinational
companies before he went into real estate. As a Realtor, he's acquired
nearly every conceivable professional designation, including the
new e-Pro certification in technological expertise.
He says the real estate adage," location, location, location",
has been replaced by "connection, connection, connection".
" You have got to stay in touch with your clients", says
this Cyber Star. "Technology makes it possible".

Singhal partners with his wife, Nimi Singhal, and with Lisa Faribault
who is a Buyer's Specialist. Angie Whitney is his assistant and client
care manager.
